Teller/New Accounts
Bank of the Valley has an opening for a Teller/New Accounts role at its Humphrey branch. This role will assist customers with financial transactions, including paying out and receiving cash, opening and closing accounts and issuing other negotiable instruments. This role will also answer customer inquiries, resolve complaints, and service ATMs. Most importantly, the incumbent will provide excellent customer service and promote long-term customer relationships. Hours are Monday through Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm with rotating Saturday mornings from 8-10:30am.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Assist customers with daily banking transactions including cashing checks, deposits, transferring funds, non-negotiable instruments and loan payments.
- Answer phone calls and assist or transfer customers as needed.
- Sort and distribute mail.
- Balance cash drawer on a daily basis and keep offages to a minimum.
- Balance the vault as assigned.
- Open and close accounts including checking, savings and certificates of deposit.
- Cross sell accounts and products to ensure customer needs are met.
- Process check orders.
- Complete Currency Transaction Reports when needed.
- Balance, maintain and supply ATMs.
- Process deposits from the night depository.
- Research and resolve customer issues.
- Answer customer inquiries concerning accounts, overdrafts, fees, etc.
- Assist customers with opening, closing, or accessing their safe deposit box.
- Accept stop payment requests.
- Understand and comply with banking regulations by following bank policies and procedures.
- Complete all other duties as assigned.
Required Skills
- Excellent verbal, written and phone communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Must be able to multi-task and organize priorities.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Must maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Must be able to lift 10-15 pounds at times.
Education and Experience
- Cash Handling experience is a plus
- Bilingual – Spanish and English is a plus

Summer Intern
Bank of the Valley is currently seeking applicants for its Summer Internship program.
The Summer Intern will gain hands-on experience in various banking departments, including customer service, financial analysis, compliance and lending.
The incumbent will gain this experience by assisting with daily tasks under the guidance of experienced staff. The goal of this position is to learn about the banking industry and have first-hand experience of the many areas of banking.
Responsibilities may include customer interactions, data entry, account opening support, basic financial analysis, and assistance with departmental projects. This is a temporary position that lasts from May until August.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Shadow experienced bankers across various departments.
- Assist with customer service inquiries and transactions at teller stations.
- Assist with opening new accounts and account maintenance requests.
- Support loan officers in loan application processing and documentation.
- Conduct basic financial analysis and data entry.
- Participate in marketing and outreach initiatives.
- Learn about compliance regulations and procedures.
- Complete all other duties as assigned.
Required Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Interest in the banking industry and career path.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Education and Experience
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program with a focus on finance, accounting, business, or related field. One year of college completed.
